The Brickfund Team
Joris is Managing Director of BrickFund and as such responsible for the strategy and general course of business within Brickfund. He maintains contacts with investors, oversees the acquisition policy and is actively involved in investment decisions.
Joris has extensive experience in the financial sector and asset management in particular. He started his career in 1997 with Arthur Andersen, which later merged with Deloitte. In 2004 Joris moved to Dubai as head of Deloitte's tax practice in the Middle East. Since 2006 Joris has worked as an investor in various positions. He was part of the investment team of Swicorp, a private equity fund in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia. After that he was co-founder of Kokomo Capital Management, an investment fund in quantitative strategies, based in Hong Kong. Currently Joris is involved as an investor in various startups and in some cases also has an active contribution.
Joris studied Tax Law in Leiden and completed this study in 1997. Subsequently, in 2007 he obtained an MBA degree from the dual degree program at the Columbia Business School in New York and London Business School.
Kees is co-responsible for the strategy and daily business at Brickfund. He maintains contacts with (potential) investors and debt capital financiers, oversees the property acquisition policy, is actively involved in the investment decisions and is responsible for business development, both at home and abroad.
Kees started his career as a financial analyst at Robeco's Institute of Research on Investment Services in Rotterdam. He then followed a management traineeship at Rabobank International in Utrecht. Kees then continued his career as a senior broker at Wallich and Matthes, a fixed income trading house in Amsterdam with offices in Vienna, Stockholm and Dubai, where he was appointed as executive director after eighteen months. Under his responsibility, the company of Wallich and Matthes has grown significantly. Kees was also responsible for setting up and expanding the branch in Dubai. After ten years, Kees decided to leave Wallich and Matthes. In addition to Brickfund, Kees is involved in a diverse number of other tech startups.
Kees studied HTS Logistics & Technical Business Administration, as well as Finance & Investments at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Kees graduated from the VU University Amsterdam as a Financial Business Analyst (VBA).
Marlies is responsible for the function of Risk Management and Compliance, as well as legal affairs. Marlies has an extensive background in the investment sector, both as an advisor and inhouse, and therefore has a multi-disciplinary way of thinking.
Before joining Brickfund, Marlies worked as a Regulatory Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Amsterdam and held the position of interim Compliance Officer and Regulatory Counsel at an international private equity fund manager. Furthermore, on an interim basis, she fulfilled the role of Supervisor Integrity in the context of a thematic survey at De Nederlandsche Bank. Marlies started her career as a lawyer at Ploum Lodder Princen Advocaten and Notarissen in Rotterdam, in the corporate law / M&A / financial supervisory law practice.
Marlies studied Dutch law at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam (2008). Subsequently Marlies completed the vocational training of the Dutch Bar Association (2012), as well as the postacademic course in Securities Law at the Grotius Academy of the Radboud University of Nijmegen (2012). In 2015, Marlies obtained the Claritas Investment Certificate from the American CFA Institute. Currently she is working on CFA Level I at the CFA Institute.
Erik Jan is Brickfund director and as such involved and co-responsible for the property acquisition policy and investment decisions.
Erik Jan has years of experience in the real estate world. From 1983 to 2015 he worked at Baljon & Mora Makelaars, most of the time as a partner. In 1989 he was sworn in as a broker / appraiser for the District Court of Rotterdam. Under his responsibility, Baljon & Mora Makelaars has become one of the market leaders in the Rotterdam brokerage business. In 2015 he started work with Dennis Koeslag Rotterdamse Grond, a company that has focused on inner-city plan development and high-quality transformations of buildings from work to housing.
